The Red Masquerade Ball will be a platform that uses edutainment and art to raise awareness of HIVs existence in t he community that we live, work and play in. The event will also highlight the Photo-Voice project that LINK and Wellness have partnered with. Participants will have the chance to share their stories about their experiences living with HIV in this community. We will also have sexual health information available through agencies that have sexual health as their core element (i.e. Planned Parenthood, Your Center etc.). This event has the power to bring together a diverse group of individuals with different views and prospective to send a message of prevention to the community at large. At the end of the event it is our hope that participants will walk away with a better understanding of what it means to be HIV positive, and knowledge of sexual health resources in the community. Overall this party with a purpose will be a way for the community to have fun in a safe environment while reducing the stigma and raising awareness of HIV and other STDs. LINKS support in this is needed and appreciated.
